Poquoson residents advised on procedures for dealing with solicitors

Lately, there has been an increase in the number of people going door-to-door selling goods and services in the City of Poquoson. Solicitors are required to secure a permit from the Commissioner of Revenue. Once the permit is obtained, they are permitted to go door-to-door, but the solicitor must have their permit on them while they are working.

Residents are not obligated to answer their doors. If a solicitor knocks and you choose to answer, you may ask if they have a permit. If they do not have a permit, you can call the non-emergency number at 757-868-3501 to report the person to the Poquoson Police Department.
