The Poquoson Public Library is set to launch a series of events marking the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, as part of the broader VA250 commemoration in Virginia. The first event will feature military historian Steven Hill, who will deliver a presentation on Saturday, October 25 at 2 p.m.

The presentation will focus on the flags used by both British and American forces during the early period of the Revolutionary War. “In recognition of the 250th Anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution, this talk will focus primarily on the colours of the early period of that war—the British regiments sent to enforce the King’s peace and the flags of the American forces created to resist them,” according to event organizers.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register in advance due to limited space. Registration details are available at https://poquoson.librarycalendar.com/event/terrible-army-banners-true-colours-british-and-americans-war-revolution-3145.

The VA250 initiative includes a series of programs and events across Virginia to commemorate 250 years since the start of the American Revolution. Additional information about VA250 and a full schedule of related events can be found at https://va250.org/.
