The Poquoson Police Department will host a National Night Out event on August 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Municipal Park, located at 840 Poquoson Ave. The event is free and open to families in the community.

According to the department, the goal of National Night Out is to encourage police-community partnerships and strengthen relationships among neighbors. Activities scheduled for the evening include bounce houses, a dunk tank, games, vendors, and music provided by a DJ. Food options will include hotdogs, chips, water, popsicles, and kettle corn.

“Join the Poquoson Police Department 6-9PM on August 5 at Municipal Park (840 Poquoson Ave) for a free, family friendly event that promotes police community partnerships and strengthens neighborhood camaraderie. Activities include bounce houses, dunk tank, vendors, games, and a DJ. Food provided will include hotdogs, chips, water, popsicles, and kettle corn.”

National Night Out events are held in communities across the country as an opportunity for residents to meet local law enforcement officers in an informal setting and participate in activities designed to build trust between police departments and citizens.
