Poquoson discontinues CodeRed Alert system after cybersecurity incident

The CodeRed Alert system is no longer available to residents of Poquoson following a cybersecurity incident involving the service provider. The Poquoson Police Department and Poquoson Fire and Rescue Department are currently seeking an alternative solution.

In a statement, officials said, “Due to a Cybersecurity Incident involving the provider, the CodeRed Alert system is no longer available to Poquoson residents. The Poquoson Police Department and Poquoson Fire and Rescue Department are working diligently on a replacement solution. More information to come soon.”

No timeline has been provided for when a new alert system will be in place.
