The City of Poquoson is reminding residents about the new Bulk & Landscape Debris Collection program, which has been in effect for two months. The program offers one free curbside pickup each month at residential homes. Residents are allowed to set out one landscape debris pile and one bulk debris pile, each separated and not exceeding six cubic yards. All piles must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the designated pickup day.

Pickup days are organized according to voting precincts: the Western Precinct receives service on the first Tuesday of each month, Central Precinct on the second Tuesday, and Eastern Precinct on the third Tuesday. According to city ordinance, any debris collection that occurs outside a resident’s scheduled precinct date will incur a fee.

Additional services available include unlimited trips to the VPPSA compost facility for disposing of landscape debris and one free trip per month to the York County Transfer Station. These benefits are only for residents who pay for solid waste services through the City.

For further details, residents can visit https://www.ci.poquoson.va.us/203/Solid-Waste or contact the Solid Waste department at 757-868-3598.
