The City of Poquoson has announced that its Fall Leaf Pickup program will start on November 3, 2025, and continue every other Monday until the end of February 2026. Residents are required to place leaves in clear bags ranging from .50 to .90 mil thickness without draw strings. The bags should be placed at the back of the curb to avoid blocking traffic or drainage.

According to city guidelines, there is no need for residents to call for pickup as the service will follow a regular schedule. The city advises against placing bags curbside during off-collection weeks.

Approved bag types include Ruffies Pro Clear Bags (60 count, 33 gallon, .75 mil; and 40 count, 39 gallon, .90 mil), Iron-Hold No Scent Drum Liners (80 count, 55 gallon, .67 mil), Do It Best Flap Top Clear (60 count, 33 gallon, .85 mil), and ECOSAFE-6400 Compostable Bags (6 count, 30 gallon, 1.1 mil). These bags can be found at Ace Hardware, Taylor’s Do It Center, or True Value Hardware.

The city states: “Utilization of any other type of bag other than those described above, or bags filled with other types of waste will not be picked up. However, any bulk debris (bulk, landscape or leaf) placed curbside outside of your designated pickup time or week will be picked up and billed accordingly.”
