The Newport News Department of Human Services has announced the rescheduling of its first Human Services Day Resource Fair. The event will now take place on Saturday, November 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rouse Tower, located at 6060 Jefferson Avenue. Admission is free and open to the public.

The change in date was made as a precaution due to the weather forecast for the original date. Organizers said this adjustment ensures the safety of participants and allows all planned activities and resources to be available.

The fair aims to bring together services that are typically spread across various agencies and organizations, offering residents a single location to connect with city departments, community partners, and vendors. These groups will provide support for families and individuals seeking assistance.

Attendees can learn about programs offered by the Department of Human Services as well as additional services such as housing support, health and wellness resources, child and family initiatives, and employment opportunities through department partners.

Alongside access to these services, guests will find activities designed for community engagement, distributions of free goods, giveaways, and raffles.

“Human Services Day is about bringing people together and making it easier for residents to access the programs and services that can make a real difference in their lives,” said Kimberly Thomas, Director of the Department of Human Services. “We invite the entire community to join us for this inaugural event.”
