In the week ending Jan. 10, three gas stations in Hampton city sold diesel gas at the lowest reported price of $3.39 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The county registered an average of $3.47 per gallon for diesel gas.
Of the 59 reported gas stations located within Hampton city, 27 offered diesel gas.
Across Virginia, the average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas fell to $3.53, compared to the week before.
U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration expects global oil stockpiles to keep growing into 2026, a trend that could weigh on crude prices in the near term.
