City of Hampton offices and services will be affected by the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 1.

All city offices will be closed for the day. Trash, bulk, and recycling collections that would normally occur on Monday will instead take place on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The yard waste site and landfill will also be closed on the holiday.

Street sweeping scheduled for Monday will move to Wednesday, while regular Wednesday sweeping is shifted to Friday, Sept. 5.

City schools are closed both Friday, Aug. 29 and Monday, Sept. 1 for students and staff.

Libraries as well as community and neighborhood centers will not open on Labor Day. The Treasurer’s Office and Commissioner of Revenue are also closed, along with DMV Select locations and courts.

Some recreational facilities remain available during regular hours: city parks, public golf courses (The Woodlands and The Hamptons), Hampton Tennis Center, Hampton History Museum (though its administrative offices are closed), and James T. Wilson pier.

Public golf courses will charge holiday rates on Labor Day.

Peninsula Health District services are unavailable due to closure on Sept. 1.

Hampton Roads Transit buses will operate a Saturday schedule that day; ferries continue their regular weekday winter service schedule (see https://gohrt.com/).
