James City County to break ground on new government center and library addition

James City County is set to begin construction on its new Government Center and Library Addition with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for November 12, 2025. The event will take place at 5231 Longhill Road at 10 a.m.

The new facility aims to consolidate most county departments onto county-owned land adjacent to the James City County Recreation Center. This move is intended to bring various government services together in one location.

Remarks at the ceremony will be delivered by several officials, including James City County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Icenhour (Jamestown District), Supervisor Michael Hipple (Powhatan District), County Administrator Scott Stevens, and Henderson President Leslie Murphy Henderson. According to the announcement, “James City County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Icenhour (Jamestown District), Supervisor Michael Hipple (Powhatan District), County Administrator Scott Stevens and Henderson President Leslie Murphy Henderson will offer remarks.”

Attendees are expected to include members of the Board of Supervisors, stakeholders from the project group, representatives from the Williamsburg Regional Library Board of Trustees, and Friends of the Library.
