James City County Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Spohn Ranch Skateparks, will hold the next Skatepark Community Design Workshop on Thursday, October 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place at the James City County Recreation Center at 5301 Longhill Road.
The skatepark currently located at the James City County Recreation Center is being relocated to the Warhill Sports Complex. Organizers are seeking public input to help design a larger and improved facility that can serve as a regional destination. Community members who have not yet participated are encouraged to take an online survey by Friday, September 19. Survey participants will be entered into a drawing for a $100 cash prize sponsored by Triangle Skateboard Alliance.
Community design workshops are intended to provide updates about the project’s progress and give residents an opportunity to ask questions or share concerns about the skatepark move and redesign.
“The design process is led by Spohn Ranch Skateparks.”
For additional information or updates regarding the new skatepark at Warhill Sports Complex, residents can visit the county’s website or contact Suzanne Yeats, Park Planner, at 757-259-5422.
