James City County has been named one of the top three winners in the 2025 CivicPlus Community Impact Awards. The awards recognize CivicPlus customers who demonstrate innovation, service, and dedication to their communities.
The county was recognized for its Housing Portal website, which offers a 24-hour platform for residents seeking housing assistance. The portal is accessible through both the county website and a mobile app. It also provides increased outreach and streamlines requests related to the Housing Office, serving as both an informational resource and a practical tool for citizens.
Since launching the portal, James City County has reported more than 10,000 visits to the site. There has also been significant growth in page visits: a 120% increase to the Food Bank page, a 50% increase to the Voucher Programs page, and a 98% increase to the Income-Based Rental Opportunities page.
As part of its award, James City County will receive a $1,000 charitable contribution made in its name to an organization of its choice, a recognition trophy, and a video spotlight produced by CivicPlus that will highlight the initiative’s story and impact.
Brian Rempe, Chief Executive Officer of CivicPlus, said: “The Community Impact Awards honor the everyday work that leads to extraordinary outcomes. The most powerful changes often start at the local level, and we’re proud to recognize our customers that are driving innovation and setting new standards in public service. James City County’s work is shaping the future of impact-led government and redefining the resident experience. We hope James City County’s success inspires other communities to explore new ways to serve, engage, and lead.”
CivicPlus created these awards to acknowledge U.S.-based customers making positive impacts in their communities by improving services or developing innovative programs.
