In February 2025, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that James City County has been awarded $1,133,079 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the Moses Lane Improvement Project. This funding is set to support three main initiatives.

The first initiative involves road improvements. The existing gravel portion of Moses Lane will be paved to meet VDOT standards, which will relieve residents from ongoing maintenance responsibilities. Secondly, housing rehabilitation efforts will upgrade four homes to ensure they are safe and suitable for low- to moderate-income households. Lastly, a neighborhood cleanup effort will assist residents in removing unsightly trash and debris.

The project administration falls under the County’s Neighborhood Development and Housing Office, which will also oversee the rehabilitation work. The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) recommended this project for approval and will monitor both the use of funds and project progress.
