Residents are encouraged to attend the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 17, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the James City County Recreation Center, located at 5301 Longhill Rd. Attendees will have an opportunity to share their thoughts or comments on Parks & Recreation facilities, parks, programs, or services during a designated public comment period.

The PRAC members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for staggered four-year terms. The Commission acts as a liaison between the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator, and community citizens regarding recreation and park matters. It also provides input for recreation and park planning. Citizens interested in serving on a County Board or Commission can call 757-253-6609 for more information or fill out the Application to Serve.
