James City County has announced changes to its operating hours due to ongoing winter weather conditions. On December 9, county offices and the Recreation Center will open at 10 a.m., while parks and convenience centers are scheduled to open at noon.

The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Storm Warning for the area until midnight on December 8. Emergency officials are continuing to monitor weather conditions throughout the evening and overnight.

Officials warn that temperatures are expected to drop overnight, which could cause snow on roadways to freeze and create hazardous travel conditions. Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible. For updated traffic and travel information, individuals can visit 511virginia.org or call 1-800-FOR-ROADS.

In case of power outages, residents should know how to contact Dominion Energy either online or by calling 866-366-4357 to report outages or downed wires.

County residents are encouraged to have multiple ways of receiving warnings and can sign up for emergency alerts, notifications, and updates via cell phones or email at JCCAlert.org. Text message charges may apply.
