James City County is celebrating Park and Recreation Month this July, emphasizing its commitment to offering inclusive programs and services for all ages and abilities. The county provides safe and accessible spaces that foster meaningful connections within the community.

Residents are encouraged to explore local parks, trails, and participate in various programs during this month-long initiative by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Community members can share their experiences on social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram, tagging the county to join in the celebration. Information about parks, trails, programs, and events is available on the county’s official website.

On June 24, Parks & Recreation staff attended a Board of Supervisors meeting where a proclamation was accepted recognizing both Park and Recreation Month and Park and Recreation Professionals Day on Friday, July 18. This day honors professionals who contribute to building strong communities through parks and recreation services.
