Hampton’s annual holiday lights display will take place at new locations this year due to construction at the traditional Wonder Walk trail. The city has relocated the displays to Carousel Park downtown, Honor Park, and along the boardwalk at Buckroe Beach.

The change in venue is a result of ongoing work on the Lake Weir project, which has made the Wonder Walk trail unavailable for this season. Funds typically used for lighting the Wonder Walk have been redirected to set up decorations at Buckroe Beach and downtown areas including Queens Way.

The lights will be available for public viewing every night until 9 p.m. through the end of December.

City Manager Mary Bunting stated: “Like all localities in our region, we install holiday lights during the season. This year, our traditional major holiday stage — Wonder Walk and Water Walk — is not available due to construction work at the Coliseum Lake area. Accordingly, we opted to use funds we would usually spend there for additional lights in Downtown and Buckroe. While the beach itself closes at sunset, we certainly encourage people to stroll the Boardwalk during the holiday season as a special event for our community.”

Holiday lights at Buckroe Beach will remain lit nightly until 9 p.m. throughout December.
