April 1, 2025 — The National Civic League has named Hampton among the 20 finalists for the 2025 All-America Cities, focusing on “sustainability through inclusive community engagement.”

In June, these finalists will present in Denver before a panel of judges who will select this year’s 10 All-America Cities. Hampton has previously received this honor in 1972, 2002, 2014, and 2023.

City Manager Mary Bunting remarked, “To even be named a finalist for the 5th time is an honor and accomplishment for the entire community. This is a rare achievement, especially since the All-America City awards reflect the work of the community and not government alone.”

The National Civic League, in a press release, highlighted that these finalists “are being recognized for their ability to bring people together, create positive change, and build thriving, resilient communities.” Selection criteria included shared vision, civic engagement, collaboration, innovation, impact, inclusiveness, and equity.
