The Hampton University track and field program completed its 2026 regular season on May 7 with several strong performances at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The event was highlighted by Delano Lawrence setting another school record in the men’s discus, achieving a throw of 57.45 meters (188-6) on his final attempt. This is the fourth time this outdoor season that Lawrence has improved the school record.

Other notable results included junior Jaci Summers winning both the men’s 100 meters (10.33 seconds) and 200 meters (20.74 seconds), as well as being part of the victorious men’s 4×100 relay team that finished in 40.19 seconds. Morgan Pruitt placed third in both the women’s 100 meters (11.97 seconds) and 200 meters (24.31 seconds). The women’s 4×100 relay team—composed of Kemani Bailey, Brianna Charles, Morgan Pruitt, and Caylie Jefferson—won their race with a time of 45.17 seconds, just shy of their fastest mark this season.

Hampton athletes also had success in other events: they took four of the top six spots in both men’s and women’s 400 meter races; Arden Gray and Danielle James finished first and second respectively in the women’s triple jump; while Summers and Jayden Poteat went one-two in the men’s 200 meters.

A full list of individual results from Hampton competitors includes top-three finishes across sprints, hurdles, relays, jumps, throws, and distance events for both men’s and women’s teams.

The team will next compete at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships scheduled for May 15-16 at Elon University.
