For the third year in a row, Hampton has received a perfect score of 100 on the Municipal Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign. The index evaluates cities across the United States on their laws, policies, and services related to LGBTQ inclusivity.

The Human Rights Campaign assesses factors such as employment practices, law enforcement policies, and city leadership involvement in LGBTQ issues. Hampton was selected as one of the cities highlighted in this year’s announcement.

Gabe Diaz, executive director of Hampton’s Unity Office and LGBTQ Liaison, said: “Our work continues to affirm that when cities collaborate intentionally, we not only advance our individual communities but also elevate the collective wellbeing and pride of our entire region.”

Mayor Jimmy Gray participated earlier this year in a public listening session at the LGBT Life Center.
