Hampton has been named one of 20 finalists for the 2025 All-America Cities award by the National Civic League. This year’s theme focuses on “sustainability through inclusive community engagement.” The city has previously won this recognition in 1972, 2002, 2014, and most recently in 2023.

The final selection will take place in June when each finalist will present to a panel of judges in Denver. Ten cities will be chosen as All-America Cities for 2025.

City Manager Mary Bunting commented on the achievement: “To even be named a finalist for the 5th time is a honor and accomplishment for the entire community. This is rare achievement, especially since the All-America City awards reflect the work of the community and not government alone.”

According to a statement from the National Civic League, “the 20 finalists are being recognized for their ability to bring people together, create positive change, and build thriving, resilient communities.” Selection criteria included shared vision, civic engagement, collaboration, innovation, impact, inclusiveness and equity.

More information about this recognition can be found at the National Civic League website.
