The City of Hampton has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as Hurricane Erin approaches. The EOC is used during significant storms and emergencies to coordinate the city’s response among various departments, public safety agencies, and partner organizations. This process is intended to ensure that resources are distributed efficiently, communication is clear, and residents receive accurate updates.

According to city officials, the EOC will remain operational until Hurricane Erin no longer poses a threat to Hampton.

Residents are encouraged to report downed power lines or trees, flooding, and blocked roads by contacting the Hampton 3-1-1 Citizen Contact Center at 757-727-8311 or emailing [email protected].

City services and storm-related information can be accessed through Hampton 311 at (757) 727-8311. For non-emergency police matters, residents should call (757) 727-6111. Power outages can be reported to Dominion Energy at 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357), while water service issues should be directed to Newport News Waterworks at (757) 926-1000.

“The EOC is activated during major storms and emergencies to coordinate the city’s response across departments, public safety agencies, and partner organizations. This helps ensure that resources are deployed quickly, communication is streamlined, and residents receive timely, accurate information.”

“The EOC will remain open until Hurricane Erin is no longer considered a threat to Hampton.”
