The City of Hampton has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in response to Hurricane Erin. The center is responsible for coordinating the city’s response among departments, public safety agencies, and partner organizations during major storms and emergencies. According to city officials, this approach is intended to ensure quick deployment of resources, streamlined communication, and timely information for residents.

The EOC will continue operations until Hurricane Erin no longer poses a threat to the area.

Residents are encouraged to report issues such as downed power lines or trees, flooding, and blocked roads by contacting the Hampton 3-1-1 Citizen Contact Center at 757-727-8311 or by email.

Key contact numbers include:
– Hampton 311: (757) 727-8311 for city services and storm-related information
– Hampton Police (Non-Emergency): (757) 727-6111
– Dominion Energy for power outages: 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357)
– Newport News Waterworks for water service issues: (757) 926-1000

“The EOC is activated during major storms and emergencies to coordinate the city’s response across departments, public safety agencies, and partner organizations. This helps ensure that resources are deployed quickly, communication is streamlined, and residents receive timely, accurate information.”

The city will keep the EOC open as long as Hurricane Erin remains a potential danger.
