Four arrested in James City County for felony weapons possession

At around 9:30 a.m. on December 12, 2025, James City County Police assisted York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Deputies in executing a search warrant at a residence on the 8300 block of York River Park Rd. in James City County. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation by the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department.

During the search, four males were arrested and charged with possession of a firearm equipped with a machine gun conversion device. Two of those arrested are juveniles who also face charges for possession of a firearm by a minor.

The individuals charged have been identified as Joseph Roy Morrisette, 19, from Shacklefords; Deavonte Mikel Tyler, 18, from Toano; and two juveniles aged 17 and 16 from James City County. Morrisette and Tyler are being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. The two juveniles are detained at the Merrimac Detention Facility.

According to authorities, “The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Department investigation is ongoing.” The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents and their K-9 team also supported the execution of the search warrant.
