On Saturday, Nov. 29, former Menchville High School standout C.J. Wilson’s current collegiate team the Christopher Newport Captains lost 28-42 against the Susquehanna Riverhawks in the NCAA Division III Football Championship.
The game took place at TowneBank Stadium at 12 p.m. and was the first matchup against the Susquehanna Riverhawks in the tournament.
Hampton University’s Brianna Charles has been named Track Athlete of the Year by the Coastal Athletic Association for indoor track and field. Freshman Nyla Felton earned Rookie of the Year honors after strong performances throughout her debut season.
The week starting Monday, April 13 will feature action from these former North Tidewater area high school stars.
The Hampton Pirates softball team secured a key victory over Elon on April 11, winning 6-2 with strong performances from Camryn Hamilton and Leah Maduro. The win ties their Colonial Athletic Association series ahead of Sunday’s deciding game.
