On May 29, The DeLong Co., Inc. will commence construction on a new agricultural export facility at the CSX Railyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. This project is poised to boost Virginia’s agriculture and logistics sectors by creating jobs and enhancing export capabilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony will include participation from representatives of The DeLong Co., the City of Portsmouth, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and key industry partners. A fact sheet detailing the project will be distributed at the event.

Attendees at the ceremony will include U.S. Congressman Robert “Bobby” Scott; representatives from the offices of U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine; Matt Lohr, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry; Shannon Glover, Mayor of Portsmouth; as well as representatives from various state departments and executive leadership from The DeLong Co.

The event is scheduled to begin with media check-in and networking at 10:00 a.m., followed by a program start at 11:00 a.m. A photo opportunity with a shovel dig will occur after the program, with the event concluding by noon. Boxed lunches will be provided for attendees.

The location for this outdoor event is set at Harper Ave within the CSX Railyard in Portsmouth. Attendees are advised to dress appropriately for weather conditions. Media personnel are requested to RSVP via email.
