Delegate A.C. Cordoza expressed gratitude for the endorsement from NFIB Virginia, emphasizing his commitment to supporting small businesses, which he described as the “backbone” of the economy and local communities.

“Thank you NFIB VA,” said Cordoza. “I am honored to stand up for VA small businesses because they are the backbone of not only our economy, but for our communities.”

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) issued a news release reminding its members that in-person early voting in Virginia is scheduled from September 19 through November 1, with Election Day on November 4. NFIB State Director Julia Hammond urged members to participate in state and local elections, stressing that backing candidates who support small businesses can influence policies impacting Virginia’s economy. The deadline to register or update voter information is October 24, either at local registrar offices or via the NFIB Voting Hub.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2025 profile, Virginia hosts approximately 880,000 small businesses, accounting for 99.6% of all businesses and employing nearly 1.6 million people, or 45.9% of the state’s workforce. Between March 2023 and March 2024, small businesses generated a net gain of 3,299 establishments and created 34,814 jobs. In 2023, banks provided $1.9 billion in loans to firms with under $1 million in revenue. Small firms also constituted 84% of Virginia exporters, contributing $8.2 billion in exports. Women own 45% of these small businesses, veterans own 8%, and Hispanics own 10%.

The NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing small and independent business owners nationwide. Founded in 1943 by C. Wilson Harder, it advocates for small businesses on issues such as taxes, healthcare, and regulations.

Delegate Cordoza represents Virginia’s 86th House District, covering parts of Hampton, Poquoson, and York County. A U.S. Air Force veteran and former cybersecurity professional at Newport News Shipbuilding, he has focused on public safety, technology, and justice through his committee work since being elected to the House of Delegates in 2021. Cordoza has sponsored multiple bills addressing education and community needs and serves as vice chairman of the Hampton Republican Party while working as a Realtor.
