A.C. Cordoza, a Delegate from Virginia, said that he spent Saturday canvassing voters and discussing priorities such as safer neighborhoods, lowering the cost of living, and improving educational opportunities. The statement was made on X.

“It’s a Saturday and I am canvassing voters,” said Cordoza, Member, Virginia House of Delegates. “Breaking down topics like safer neighborhoods, lowering living costs and improving educational opportunities. As your Delegate, I will continue to work hard for you.”

The Virginia House of Delegates plays a central role in shaping policies on education, housing, and public safety at the state level. Delegates meet annually in Richmond to draft and vote on legislation that directly affects local communities, addressing issues ranging from classroom funding and teacher pay to criminal justice initiatives and tax relief.

According to reports from the city of Hampton, part of Delegate Cordoza’s district, there has been a 12 percent reduction in overall crime between 2021 and 2024. Local law enforcement attributes these improvements to neighborhood engagement, community policing, and youth outreach programs designed to prevent repeat offenses.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that consumer prices in the South Atlantic region—which includes Virginia—rose by 3.2 percent between July 2023 and July 2024. This increase was driven largely by housing and energy costs. Economists suggest that state-level policies addressing affordability can ease burdens on working families.

Cordoza is a Republican member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 86th district since 2024. He previously represented the 91st district after being first elected in 2021. Cordoza served in the U.S. Air Force from 2013 to 2016, earned an associate degree in information technology from Thomas Nelson Community College, and works as a cybersecurity professional at Newport News Shipbuilding.
