Coastal storm warning issued with potential for major flooding in Poquoson

A Coastal Storm Warning has been issued for the area, including a Gale Watch, Coastal Flood Statement, and Small Craft Advisory. These alerts are expected to remain in effect through the weekend. The region may experience minor flooding through the end of the week, with the potential for major flooding on Sunday.

The City has opened storm parking at South Lawson Park and City Hall to assist residents. High tide cycles at Messick Point are forecasted for 11:08 a.m. and 11:32 p.m. on October 9, 12:00 p.m. on October 10, 12:24 a.m. and 12:56 p.m. on October 11, and 1:20 a.m. and 1:56 p.m. on October 12.
