The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized the City of Poquoson with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This honor was given for the city’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

According to GFOA, an impartial panel determined that Poquoson’s report met the program’s high standards, which include a commitment to full disclosure in order to communicate its financial story and encourage engagement from potential users.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” stated GFOA.
