The City Council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday for its regular work and legislative sessions. The agenda includes a proposal to establish a new election polling place at Hampton University.

The council will hold its work session at 1 p.m. and the legislative session at 6:30 p.m., both in chambers on the eighth floor of City Hall at 22 Lincoln St. These meetings will be available on Cox channel 47, Verizon channel 22, and streamed live online at hampton.gov/livetv.

During the afternoon session, there will be a briefing on the comprehensive financial report for Fiscal Year 2025, which ended June 30. The council will consider formal approval of this report as part of the consent agenda during the evening session.

At the evening meeting, members will vote on an ordinance that would create a new polling place at Hampton University. According to the proposal, this aims to “ease voter access and improve election administration.” If approved, precinct borders in East Hampton would be redrawn, but no Congressional or General Assembly districts would be split or redefined.

Other items on the legislative agenda include discussions about rezoning and use permits. The council is also set to vote on whether to revoke the use permit for a downtown restaurant.

The day will begin with a closed session at 9 a.m., where council members will receive a briefing about the upcoming General Assembly legislative session in Richmond.
