The City of Newport News and THR Cycling Club have announced the return of the Tour of Newport News, a prestigious bicycle race series set to take place from April 12 to April 14. The event, known for its competitive nature and substantial cash prizes, is expected to draw professional riders from across the United States and even internationally.

The Tour of Newport News, which saw over 1,200 registrations last year, has solidified its position as the largest event of its kind in Virginia and one of the most significant road cycling events in the country.

The action-packed weekend will kick off with Street Sprints on 23rd Street in the downtown Yard District, featuring intense sprint races and offerings from local vendors. The excitement will continue with the Crawford Road Time Trial in Yorktown, promising challenging terrain for the riders.

A highlight of the event, the Newport News Twilight Criterium, will showcase both professional and amateur categories, providing spectators with thrilling races and a party atmosphere in front of Newport News City Hall. The event will be enhanced by the commentary of renowned figures such as Frankie Andreu and Joe Jefferson.

The Tour will culminate with the Fort Eustis Circuit Race on Sunday, featuring a fast 5K loop on the military installation and special categories for military personnel and para-racers.

For those not participating in the races, the event promises entertainment for all, with free admission and trolley services to transport attendees to the downtown area.

In conclusion, the Tour of Newport News is set to once again captivate audiences with its world-class competition and vibrant atmosphere, making it a must-attend event for cycling enthusiasts and spectators alike.
